"Footprints" Poem

One night in deepest sleep, I dreamed,
Upon the beach I walked.
The Lord was by my side each step
As quietly we talked.

Then on the sky my life appeared;
Each chapter was serene.
Two sets of footprints in the sand
I saw in every scene.

And then I noticed in some parts
Of discontent and strife,
Just a single pair of footprints
In the worst times of my life.

"Lord, you said you'd walk by me
In good times and in bad.
Why then weren't you with me
When you knew my life was sad?"

"My dearest child," God whispered.
"When you suffered then, I knew;
The single pair of footprints

Were those times I carried you."

10 Reasons Gay Marriage is Un-American

The following is meant to be satirical and remember to laugh!

1. Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.

2. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

3. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

4. Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

5. Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Britany Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

6. Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.

7. Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

8. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.

9. Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

10. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.

How to Sign up for Driver's Ed

Driver's Ed is Easy!
1. Go to http://www.driveredtogo.com
2. Click "Enroll" and find California and then select the appropriate course.
3. Enter your information, and at the part called "Special Offer Code or Gift Certificate," enter in this code: XM8-42B-FK9 to save $2 on your driver's ed, lowering the price to about $17.99.
Read through the lessons, do the final exam and practice on whatever parts you fail at. Then...

The DMV Written Test
Upon completing driver's ed, driveredtogo.com will send you a certificate. However, to actually take the Written test, you will need much more:
1. The form DL 44 filled out correctly and with parent signatures.
2. Your Social Security #
3. Birth Certificate or something similar (just needs to prove your age and that you are a legal resident)
4. The driver's ed certificate (the one you get from driveredtogo.com)
5. Another certificate that says that you are enrolled in driver training (mine was from AA... more info below)
6. Of course you need to pay for it (the test) - it's $28. ($6 for a retest though. Hopefully you won't have to come back if you studied)
7. Last but not least, study!

After the Written Test...
If you fail, that means that you should study and come back next week. If you pass, you get your permit and then you get to drive but you must have a 21 year old with you when you drive. Typically, it's a good idea to find out when you will be doing behind-the-wheel training (which you probably paid a lot for) and do it while you still remember the rules of the road. I did my six hours with AA Teen Driving Academy. Their phone number is (949) 551-4860. They have great teachers, each have a different teaching style and you get a new teacher for each 2 hour stretch that you do. The car is provided so all you will need is your permit when you go out to drive with them.

6 months and 50 hours of driving with an adult (including 10 hours at night) later, you will be eligible to take the Driving Test. Good luck!

How to Register for the SAT for Dummies

Believe it or not, some people don't know how to register for the SAT. If that's you, then keep reading. Also, you can send this info to people who need it.

How to Register for the SAT:
1. Go to this site:
http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/sat/reg.html

Tips
1. Location, location, location. Be sure to register at a place where the desks are a little bigger. I found that Capistrano High was a good place. IVC is good too, but UCI is not (their desks are too small).
2. Study! Buy the Collegeboard's Official SAT Study Guide. Either the 2008 (1st edition) or the 2009 (2nd edition) will work. Others also recommend buying a book from Barron's, but I find the Official study guide is good enough.
3. Practice! The best way to raise your points is to keep doing practice tests (all of 10 of them). Remember to conduct the tests in a quiet place, and to go through it all at once (4 hours).

If you follow these steps, you should expect a decent score.

Good luck!

A Poem

It’s those crisp winter mornings that she lives for.
Those mornings she can feel the chill air nipping at her cheeks while coiled under the blankets, with no real intent to get up.
It’s in these moments that she thinks the clearest, ignoring everything besides her steady breathing and watches the pictures her mind paints as she thinks through her problems.
Her mind tells the stories of her possible decisions and their possible outcomes, each as intriguing as the one before.
She speeds through her problems, quickly finding her own answer. She’s never been keen on taking more than a few hours to at least vaguely decide what she will do.
Rushing things seems to be her strong point. It has never been that she hasn’t thought the problems through, more so that her mind cannot stand to go any slower than the fastest it can.
As she skips from problem to problem she smiles and laughs, frowns and sheds anger tears. She handles her life.
It’s these mornings and these moments where her life takes flight, despite her apparent lack of action now. Looking back at events and trying to find their true meaning defines her.
Many, including herself, consider this extreme over-thinking. It’s her Achilles heel, her acute attention to details and over analysis of them. But it is also what defines her, and creates who she has been and determines who she will become.
With each detail, her own analysis which creates a path towards an idea, some that lead to action and some the lack there of.
__________________________
_________________________________________________________

I wonder if anyone else sees the real motive behind her lying eyes that truly makes her cry. That’s all I have been pondering for the last half an hour.
The tears running down the defendant’s cheeks seemed to be real and genuine to all that sat behind her in support on the hard wooden benches.
Except to me. One can only look into a set of eyes so many times longing for truth, before she finally comes to realize she will never find it there.
As her daughter I looked to her for guidance and love, only to realize all too soon that I was the provider of advice and compassion in this relationship.
Now, almost twelve years later, few things have changed. The only main difference now being that my mother will finally have to wreak the consequences of her actions for the past eighteen years. A day that I have been waiting for for too many years, which is despicable.
Too many wonder how anyone can be truly happy that their mother is being sent away, with no real way of coming back. And too many have shunned me for choosing realistic answers and sides over how what others expect a daughter to do.
At forty five, learning how to find your own answers and creating yourself should be old hat. No one should be creating you besides yourself at any point in your life, but by now it should be ingrained within you to fight.
So my question is, what will finally push her to take control of her own life? For too long I have been a dictating force and voice of reason that pushed her in the most right direction I knew. And at the same time the driving force that made her do the exact opposite of logical, because I had been the one to suggest it.
I believe this is the final push she needs. Complete isolation from anyone that is willing to help her. This is her defining moment, whether or not anyone is willing to admit it.
I have faith in her that she will find herself and be able to take control finally instead of always needing someone to control it for her, but she needs to be pushed to her extremes. Forced to reckon with her past, and mold herself a better future.

When someone tells you to go, run.
To drive, go fast.
To love, fall hard.
To kiss, use passion.
To learn, teach.
To write, make Stephen King jealous
Too give up, fight harder.
Its ok to cry, laugh.
When someone tells you to do something, do it better.

___________________________________________________________________________________

She really didn’t know what was waiting for her on the other side of the door.
She knew who she wanted it to be, but the likelihood of that was in the tenths or a percent.
The one who made her feel swept off her feet, yet so hopeless and insignificant at the same time.
The one who, for a reason she couldn’t think of, had her heart.
Maybe that statement is too bold, but it seems that as of late, things are quite out of the norm.
She hadn’t yet reached the bottom of the stairs when she checked her phone for the time.
11:11. Make a wish.
We all know what she wished for.
As she grasped for the handle, she vaguely contemplated looking out the peep hole, but really saw no reason too.
She got what she wished for.
He was on the other end of the barrel, pointed at her face. Already cocked and ready to blow, all he did was pull the trigger.
At least this love ended painlessly.

How to Get Rid of and Remove MyClickCheck.su on Mozilla Firefox

If you're on Google and you click a link and it redirects to a site called MyClickCheck.su, here is the solution to fix it.
  1. Open up Command Prompt (cmd in Run).
  2. Type ipconfig /flushdns and press enter.
  3. Download GooRedFix and open it.
  4. If you want, press 1 to create a log. It may take a while and will produce a log file that tells you that you have a problem. So, you can skip it and go directly to 2.
  5. Close all Mozilla Firefox windows and confirm GooRedFix.
  6. Once it's done, flush your dns again.
  7. Open up Mozilla Firefox and test to see if it's gone!

How to Fix Cydia if It Closes Automatically or after a Few Seconds of Loading Data

If you're on 3.0, or any other version (I have not confirmed this problem on other versions), and your Cydia crashes also immediately or after a few seconds of loading data, don't panic. I have the solution.
  1. Open Terminal (If you don't have it, you can get it via Icy. If you don't have Icy, re-jailbreak your phone).
  2. Type "su" (no quotes).
  3. Type your password. If you haven't changed yours, it will be "alpine" (no quotes).
  4. Type "apt-get remove cydia" (no quotes).
  5. It will take some time to do its thing, but after a while it will ask you to continue. Type "Yes, do as I say!" (no quotes).
  6. After a while it will complete. To get Cydia back, type "apt-get install cydia" (no quotes).
  7. You now have Cydia back!

How to Jailbreak iPhone 2G, iPod Touch 1G, iPod Touch 2G, and iPhone 3G (No Unlock) to 3.0 Final (Fully Linked) using RedSn0w

3.0 is a very monumental update, as it introduces Spotlight, a better camera, video recording for 3GS, stereo bluetooth, email search, better calendar, landscape keyboard, safari autofill, find my iphone, voicememos, better stocks, copy/paste, better speed, and push notifications.

As of June 20, only iPhone 2G, iPod Touch 1G, iPod Touch 2G, and iPhone 3G (No Unlock) can be jailbroken.
  1. First things first!! Backup all your important stuff. Take screenshots of your icons if their order matters (to do so, touch the home and power buttons together). If you are already jailbroken, get AptBackup and AppBackup for backing up Cydia apps and App Store app settings, respectively. Plug your device into iTunes and sync and back it up. To make back ups short, uninstall unnecessary apps. Because AptBackup is not 100% effective, I strongly recommend to go into Cydia and write down all your sources and app names.
  2. Download the proper software and files. iPhone 2G, iPod Touch 1G, iPod Touch 2G, iPhone 3G (No Unlock), and RedSn0w.
  3. Update your device to 3.0. This may take a while, but you shouldn't have to restore.
  4. Open up RedSn0w, find your corresponding IPSW (it'll take some time for RedSn0w to process it), and press next. It'll download some stuff and then it may finish. If yours crashes and you're on Vista, run RedSn0w as an administrator. Then keep Cydia checked and, if you have an iPhone 2G, you can unlock it. Next, put your device in DFU mode. I have done this many times and know a few shortcuts. Turn your device off (I recommend both power and home buttons). When it is off, continue to hold both buttons for five seconds. Let go off the power button and continue holding home for as long as necessary for your computer to recognize it (usually 10 seconds). You will know it is in DFU mode because your computer may say DFU device detected or iTunes recognizes it but there is no "connect to iTunes" logo on your device. RedSn0w will give you some instructions also. It will then do its thing and you will have a jailbroken device.
Here are some other links for 3.0 firmwares if you want to download them before their jailbreaks come: iPhone 3GS.

How to Jailbreak iPhone 2G, iPod Touch 1G, and iPhone 3G (No Unlock) to 3.0 Final (Fully Linked) using Pwnage Tool

As of June 19, only iPhone 2G, iPod Touch 1G, and iPhone 3G (No Unlock) can be jailbroken.
On June 20, iPod Touch 2G could now become jailbroken via RedSn0w. See my next post.
  2. Download the proper software and files. iPhone 2G, iPod Touch 1G, iPhone 3G (No Unlock), and PwnageTool 3.0. This is only available for Mac at the moment, but if you scroll down a little, I'll show you a workaround.
  3. Mount your PwnageTool and open the PwnageTool app.
  4. Click ok on the copyright box, select your model, and click on expert mode. Let the app search for the corresponding IPSW (if it cannot, manually search for it). Click on general and select if you want to active the phone and enable baseband update (for unlocking), as well as change the root partition size. Select if you want to bootneuter (again for unlocking). Select custom packages (not necessary since you can download them in Cydia). Select your third-party installers (Cydia is the best and is the only one you need). Select custom logos (not very important and can be embarrassing). Click Build, save the location of the new file, enter your password, and wait. After it finishes building, click if you have or haven't pwned before (it doesn't matter; it's just to DFU instructions).
  5. If you are on a Windows PC, I have exported the iPhone 2G, iPod Touch 1G, and iPhone 3G (No Unlock) all with the minimum (no unlock, no bootneuter, no custom logos, no custom packages, only Cydia)
  6. Open up iTunes. If an update window appears, just close it. Now for the update. Shift-click (Windows) or Option-click (Mac) on Restore and then select your custom firmware. Now sit back and wait.
  7. Now for some common errors. Error 1600 can occur at any time really. There are many reasons for this. Try around, do DFU mode. For me, mine took forever to fix (including trying to jailbreak in Windows and Mac). This method worked for me and was found on http://blog.iphone-dev.org: Props go out to EriCKY for this 16xx fix:

    1. download QuickPwn RC3
    2. download iphone 2.0.2 ipsw
    3. Run quickpwn rc3 and do everything it says untul your iphone has a white screen.
    4. unplug your iphone, turn off quickpwn and turn on itunes.
    5. shift click restore in itunes and pick the 3.0 jailbroken firmware. If you have any other errors or those methods don't work, google or comment me.
  8. Once you have jailbroken, restore your backup and you're set!!!
Here are some other links for 3.0 firmwares if you want to download them before their jailbreaks come: iPhone 3GS.

Multi-Photo

Remember when I reviewed File2Mail, hoping that it would fix my multiple attachments problem? This is the answer. While the interface is shaky right now (it wants you to input your email address again even if there's you've already done). I wish that you could select the photos you want uploaded instead of having to do them one by one and having to wait for each one to load. The app also only does photos. At $1 and 6.1mb, this app is the only one that I know that does this, so I'll keep it on my iPhone.

Also, I'm setting up an ultimatum. If I don't get any money from my ads by the end of January I'm stopping. If I get one cent before that time, then I'll continue on February 1.

Grind

With $3 and 17.4mb, this app is not very good. Controls are horrible. To go forward, you have to repeatedly stroke your finger upward. Turning is also horrible, as you turn very slowly and often crash into fences and ramps. There's only one map right from the start, but you can make your own! However, you can only make one map at a times and you're limited to four different items. Physics are horrible and unrealistic and the only trick that you can do (besides obviously grinding) is a stalemate. No flip tricks or other grabs, just that. I think the only fun part of this game is riding around fast and crashing into things. This app is offensive to game designers, physics professors, and most of all, skateboarder.

Gym Buddy

For real, last app of the day. In this app, you get to monitor your workouts and record them. This has two main faults. First, you look like an idiot recording you workouts and a total nerd. Second, who wants to carry around an iPod or iPhone while they're working out? Just do as much as you can! $3 is way too much, so uninstalled.

GW Parachute and GW Chef.

Ahhh, so this is Mr. Game and Watch. I have seen him in Super Smash Melee. Basically, he's a two-dimensional, black and white stick figure. Each app has two separate games in them but they're organized by their app's title. The parachute one is very easy; you just move the boat to the left and the right and catch parachuters. The chef is harder, and you flip stuff and it can't hit the ground. Each app costs $2, but with limited functionality, I'll pass on both. Both uninstalled.

GVocabulary or iStudy: German Vocabulary

Good I guess for people who want/need to learn German. Has flashcards with German sayings and then their English translations. Not very intuitive, as flashcards are random. You can't search and this app costs $2. Pass this up for a better German app. On the bubble.

GoldIsland

This is quite fun. If you've ever played GoldMiner on Myspace games, this is the same concept. For those who haven't, you have a fishing line that swings back and forth and you are able to pick up gold and other things for money. You then use that money to buy upgrades. $3 may be alot, but 9.2mb isn't. Removed from iPhone, but kept on computer.

GoldenSword

This app looks like it's from the 80s. You have a keypad, so there's no attempt at tilt or touching the edges of the screen. Movement is really jerky and you can walk through the whole adventure and not have to fight anyone since the monsters just walk at about three depths. This app costs $1 but as one reviewer said, "Save the dollar for a soda at the corner store." Crap and it's uninstalled.

Gold Rush

I was wrong about this app. At first, I thought I could rotate the pieces and just take the train from one station to the other. Instead, you can't rotate the pieces and you must pick up all the gold before you complete the level. Often times you have to throw away pieces that don't fit and are clogging up your inventory. So you are constantly in a rush to put down the right pieces. This app is $2 and only taken off my iPhone but not my computer.
